In matters of law, trials may come in many forms. At its simplest, a trial is a court proceeding. On the other hand, it also refers more generally to the various trials and tribulations — that is challenges and difficulties — which people and companies face as a party to a legal dispute or a criminal procedure. What these situations have in common, however, is that they often cause concern to the client and divert the client's resources from other things: from running a business in the case of a company; from daily life in the case of a person.

I promise to do my best to ensure that my clients can face their legal challenges with as much peace of mind as possible and focus on what matters most to them. This aim will not be achieved with mere soothing words but through uncompromising and high-quality advocacy alone. Success in legal proceedings also requires good communication skills to ensure that the client's case is argued understandably and convincingly. Thanks to my experience, I can provide this expertise to my clients. Having assisted clients in numerous legal proceedings relating to different fields of law, I know what it takes to prevail in court or arbitration. I also understand the limits of my knowledge and will not accept an assignment if I am not convinced of my ability to serve the client's interests.

  • Through effective case management, I ensure that efforts are focused on tasks that are essential to the client's interests and that the client is always aware of the status of the matter. Successful case management is achieved by thoroughly assessing the legal merits of the case at the outset of the assignment, by planning and scheduling actions sensibly, and by ensuring smooth and timely communication with the client throughout the assignment. When a client turns to me, I take responsibility for managing the case. This way, my client can rest easy knowing that his or her matter will be taken care of.

It is important to me that my assistance provides real added value to my client. Therefore, I keep the client's costs in mind when considering any course of action. The key to cost control are sensible pricing, avoiding unnecessary measures and ensuring that the client has an up-front understanding of the costs and related risks. At the start of the assignment, I give a fee and cost estimate, which I update as necessary during the assignment. With predictable cost control, I do my part in seeing that my client does not have to worry about what the case will come to cost.
